Sophie Gorton studied Fine Art at Chelsea before setting up her own fashion label in 1989. Her collection was exhibited regularly at London Fashion Week and stocked by many retailers, including Liberty's, Harrods and Selfridges. In 2003 Sophie returned to college and completed a Masters in textiles at Central Saint Martins.

Sophie is now concentrating on sustainable issues within the fashion and textile industry and has brought out a small organic cotton collection of women's tops. She is also currently working with waste and recycled materials combining techniques such as laser, emboss, print and shibori. Her new works have been included in several exhibitions and publications. As well as teaching at Central Saint Martins she is also a steering group member of the FEI, a subsidiary of Labour Behind the Label.
